How can society build skills for inmates?
The University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business is considered one of the finest business schools in the country. But it is becoming known for another project as well, a prison-focused certificate education program, initiated by Greg and Tierney Fairchild. This set of programs, all taught by MBA student volunteers, is conducted in two Virginia prisons. The prisoner-students learn basic skills and entrepreneurial methods for job training or starting their own businesses. The program is now a model for other such educational programs throughout the country.
